Microbiological problems in biological tanks are common problems during operations. This affects the quality of output wastewater.
Here we would like to invite our customers and readers to review with Nam Viet some problems that may occur and how to fix them.
Phenomena | Reason | How to fix |
There is an unpleasant odor in the air conditioning tank | – Due to lack of oxygen in the air conditioning tank | – Increase aeration in the tank air conditioning |
– The odor treatment system is not working or has little operating time | – Increase operating time of odor treatment system
Low O2 levels and a rotten smell in the water | – The amount of O2 supplied is low | – Increase aeration, expand the adjustment valve at the tank |
– MLSS (Micro density birth) in the tank is too high | – Reduce the flow of wastewater into the tank (turn off the pump or reduce the flow if possible)
The amount of O2 is low despite using maximum aeration capacity | – A lot of mud is produced | – Increase the time to discharge excess sludge to the sludge tank |
There is white foam on the surface Aeration | – Organic load too high (BOD, COD) | – Reduce wastewater flow into the tank (turn off the inlet pump or Reduce flow if possible) |
– MLSS content (bile microbiological level) is low | – Increase pumping time to circulate sludge from settling tank to biological tank
– Poisoning (metals and biocide), lack of nutrients nourishment | – Turn off the internal air blower 30 – 60 minutes, pump water into the tank for washing and detoxification. Then it works back to normal
There is dark brown foam on the surface of the aeration tank | – High microbial density | – Increase wastewater flow into the tank to expand the flow control valve |
Thick, dark brown layer of foam on the aeration surface | – The aeration tank is in low load mode due to not providing enough wastewater | – Increase wastewater flow into the tank or increase the time to discharge excess sludge to the sludge tank |
– The aeration tank is seriously underloaded | – Increase wastewater flow into the tank |
